Survey Description


During the summer of 1977, a soil sampling survey was conducted in the Palmarolle area, Quebec.  The area covers 1400 km2.  A total of 409 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 3.4 km2.  Samples were analyzed for:

 

Element Dissolution Technique
Loss on ignition (LOI)    
U   paper chromatography
Ag, As, Co, Cu, Hg, Mn, Mo, Ni, Pb, Zn   atomic absorption (AAS)
pH   selective electrode

H2O

   
Au   pyroanalysis

 

The data are published in Open File MB 86-65, Department of Energy and Resources, 1986.

This survey is part of a compilation of geochemical surveys published in DV 87-22.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 32D/10 (Taschereau), /11 (Palmarolle), /14 (La Sarre), /15 (Rivière Macamic).  The Palmarolle area is situated in the Abitibi region.  It is located 50 km north of Rouyn-Noranda.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°30' and 48°50' and longitudes 78°50' and 79°30'.
