Survey Description


During the summer of 1984, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Lac Barrin area, Quebec.  The area covers 110 km2.  A total of 37 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.3 km2.  Samples were analyzed for:

 

Element Dissolution Technique
Ag, Al, B, Ba, Be, Ca, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Eu, Fe, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Sc, Sm, Sr, Th, Ti, V, Y, Zn   inductively coupled plasma emission (ICP-ES)
Loss on ignition (LOI)    
U   fluorimetry
Hg   flameless atomic absorption (F-AAS)
As   hydride generation atomic absorption (HG-AAS)

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 12M/8 (Lac Barrin).  The Lac Barrin area is situated in the Côte-Nord region.  It is located approximately 160 km northeast of Havre Saint-Pierre.  It is bounded by latitudes 51°18'08" and 51°22'55" and longitudes 62°03'14" and 62°14'02".
