Survey Description


During the summer of 1983, a till sampling survey was conducted in the Shefferville area, Quebec.  The area covers 900 km2.  A total of 145 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 6.2 km2.  Samples were analyzed for Ag, Al, As, Au, B, Ba, Be, Cd, Ce, Co, Cr, Cu, Eu, Fe, Hg, K, La, Li, Mg, Mn, Mo, Na, Ni, P, Pb, Pt, Sc, Sm, Sn, Sr, Th, Ti, V, Y, Zn and loss on ignition.

The data are published in Open File MB 85-59, Department of Energy and Resources, 1985.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 23O/2 (Lac Tait), /3 (Lac de la Frontière) and 23J/11 (Lac Clugny), /14 (Elross Lake), /15 (Lac Knob).  The Shefferville area is situated in the Nord-du-Québec region.  It is bounded by latitudes 54°30' and 55°15' and longitudes 66°30' and 67°30'.
