Survey Description


During the summer of 1982, a soil sampling survey was conducted in the Lac Bigniba area, Quebec.  The area covers 500 km2.  A total of 224 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 10.0 km2.  Samples were analyzed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Ag, Mn, Mo, Hg (atomic absorption), U (paper chromatography) and loss on ignition.

The data are published in Open File MB 85-35, Department of Energy and Resources, 1985.

This survey is part of a compilation of geochemical surveys published in DV 87-22.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 32C/3 (Lac Gueguen), /4 (Val-d'Or) and 32F/13 (Matagami), /14 (Lac Olga).  The Lac Bigniba area is located in the Abitibi region.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°55' and 49°20' 49"and longitudes 77°16'18" and 78°.
