Survey Description


In 1978, a soil sampling survey was conducted in the Val-Saint-Gilles area, Quebec.  The area covers 11.5 km2.  A total of 505 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.02 km2 These samples were analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Mn, Mo, Ag, Sn, U, As, Li, Hg and loss on ignition.

The data are published in Open File DPV-660, Department of Natural Resources, 1979.  Raw data are published in Open File DP-83-11, Department of Natural Resources, 1983.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 32D/14 (La Sarre). The Val-Saint-Gilles area is situated in the Abitibi region, near the border of Quebec-Ontario. It is bounded by latitudes 48°57' and 49° and longitudes 79°07' and 79°10'.
