Survey Description


In the summer of 1971, approximately 3500 stream sediment samples were collected systematically in the area along the streams, the intermittent streams and near springs.  The fixed sampling interval of 450 m was paced.  The area covers 1650 km 2.  Sampling was done at an average density of 1 sample per 0.5 km 2 and analysed for:

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 31H/9 (Richmond), /10 (Saint-Hyacinthe) and 21E/12 (Wotton). The Saint-Hyacinthe-Richmond area is located 100 km east of Montreal. It contains Upton, Acton, Durham, Clevenland and Melbourne townships and parts of Ely, Roxton, Milton and Wickham townships. It is bounded by latitudes 45°30' and 45°45' and longitudes 71°55' and 72°47'.
