Survey Description


In 1964, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Joutel-Poirier region, Quebec.  The area covers 116 km2.  A total of 618 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.2 km2 and analysed for:

Cu, Pb, Zn

HNO3

visual colorimetry
Mo HCl visual colorimetry

 

The area includes 4 mines:  Poirier, Joutel-Poirier Mines Ltd, Northern Exploration Ltd and Eagle Gold Mines Ltd.  The sampling was conducted by Kelly in 1964, before the opening of those 4 mines.

The data are published in Open File DP-377, Department of Natural Resources, 1976.  This survey is part of a compilation of geochemical surveys published in DV 87-22.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 32E/8 (Ruisseau Kistabiche), /9 (Lac Laurin). The Joutel-Poirier area is bounded by latitudes 49°23' and 49°31' and longitudes 78°18' and 78°26'. It included 4 mines: Poirier, Joutel Copper Mines Ltd, Northern Exploration Ltd and Eagle Gold Mines Ltd.
