Survey Description


In 1950, a soil sampling survey and a water survey were conducted in the Lemieux township area, Quebec.  The area covers 100 km2.  A total of 1797 soil samples (an average density of 1 sample per 0.06 km2) and 154 water samples (an average density of 1 sample per 0.6 km2) were collected and analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn.  The analytical methods used are explained in details in the report.

The data are published in preliminary report RP-302, Department of Mines, Quebec, 1954.  There is also an Open File (DP-83) published in 1953.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 22B/16 (Mont Albert).  The Lemieux township is accessible from Gaspé, Ste-Anne-des-Monts and Cascapédia and lies approximately 30 miles south of the north coast of the Gaspé peninsula and 42 miles north of the south coast.
