Survey Description


During the summers of 1965 and 1966, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the River Malbaie area, Quebec.  The area covers 1200 km2.  A total of 628 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 1.9 km2 and analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Mo, Ni and U.

The data are published in preliminary report RP-576, Department of Natural Resources, Quebec, 1969.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 21M/16 (west) (Lac au Plongeon).  The Rivière-Malbaie area is located between 70°15'W and 70°30'W longitude, 48°N latitude and the St. Lawrence River, including Île aux Coudres.  The town of Baie-Saint-Paul, about 60 miles from Quebec City, is located in the southwest corner of the area.
