Survey Description


In 1965, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the northwest quarter of McKenzie township, Quebec.  The area covers 70 km2.  A total of 204 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.3 km2 and analysed for Cu, Mo, Pb and Zn.

The data are published in preliminary report RP-573, Department of Natural Resources, Quebec, 1968.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers 32G/16 (west) (Chibougamau) and part of 32J/1 (west) (Lac Waconichi).  The northwest quarter of McKenzie township is located 6 miles northwest of Lac Chibougamau, some 300miles north of Montreal.  The southeast part of the area is accessible by a gravel road from the town of Chibougamau and access to the northwest part is by water, through Rivière Chibougamau up to Lac Chevrillon.
