Survey Description


In 1963-1964, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Beauvoir-Ascot Corner area, Sherbrooke, Richmond and Compton counties, Quebec.  The area covers 160 km2.  A total of 243 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.7 km 2 and analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn and Mo.

The data are published in preliminary report RP-560, Department of Natural Resources, Quebec, 1967.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 21E/3 (Malvina), /5 (Sherbrooke) west.  The Beauvoir-Ascot Corner area includes the area covered by the Beauvoir sheet, west of longitude 71°48' and that of the Ascot Corner sheet, east of the same longitude.  The survey covers part of the Monts Stoke range in the Appalachian Highlands.  The southern boundary of the Beauvoir sheet crosses the north part of the city of Sherbrooke; the northeast corner of the Ascot Corner sheet covers the western part of the town of East Angus.
