Survey Description
In 1964, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Membré-Chalifoux area, Pontiac, Rouyn-Noranda and Temiscaming counties, Quebec. The area covers 600 km2. A total of 181 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 3.3 km2 and analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn and Mo.
The data are published in preliminary report RP-542, Department of Natural Resources, 1965. A summary of this work can be found in geological report RG-175, Department of Natural Resources, Quebec, 1976.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers NTS 31N/3 (Lac Nichcotea), /6 (Reservoir Dozois) west. The Membré-Chalifoux area, which is entirely in La Verendrye Provincial Park, comprises parts of Membré, Chalifoux and Fréville townships in Pontiac county, part of Granet township in Rouyn-Noranda county and parts of Lajoie and Hamon townships in Témiscamingue county. Its center is located about 60 miles southeast of Val-d’Or.
