Survey Description

During the summers of 1972-1975, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the north-west of Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec.  The area covers 9000 km2 (NTS sheets 22B/3, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15 and 22G/2).  Approximately 20,000 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.4 km2 and analysed for:

Element Dissolution Technique
Cu, Zn, Pb, Co, Ni, Mn, Sn, Mo   atomic absorption (AAS)
U   paper chromatography

The data are published in Open File DPV-563, Department of Energy and Resources, Quebec, 1978.  Some samples were reanalysed for arsenic and results are published in DV 87-18.
