Survey Description


During the summers of 1966 to 1970, a stream sediment sampling survey was conducted in the Monts McGerrigle area (NTS 22G/1, 22H/4, 22B/16 and 22A/13), Quebec.  The area covers 390 km 2.  A total of 1270 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.3 km 2 and analysed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Mo, Ni, Co, Mn, W, Sn, Au, Ag and U.

The data are published in Open File RG-174, Department of Natural Resources, Quebec, 1977.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 22G/1 (Ste-Anne-des-Monts), 22H/4 (Mont-Louis), 22B/16 (Mont Albert) and 22A/13 (Lac Madeleine).  The Monts McGerrigle area is situated in the north-central part of Gaspé Peninsula, some 40 km ESE of Sainte-Anne-des-Monts.  The area lies almost entirely within the Parc de conservation de la Gaspésie.  To the south, it includes parts of Lesseps and Deville townships.  The northern section lies within the townships of Deslandes and Boisbuisson.
