Survey Description
In June 1989 and September 1991, lake sediment and water samples were collected in a 966 km2 area in the vicinity of Murray Lake, 57 km northeast of Wawa, northern Ontario.
Lake sediment cores and water samples were collected from 933 points situated in lakes and ponds at an average density of 1 sample per 1 km2. Pre-Ambrosia sediments were collected where possible but approximately 20% of the samples are mixed- or post-Ambosia.
The study is published in Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report OFR5932 and the data are published in Miscellaneous Release Data MRD017.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers parts of NTS 42C/01 (Manitowik Lake), 42C/08 (Franz) and small parts of 42B/04 (Bolkow), 42B/05 (Missinaibi Lake) and 42C/09 (Oba Lake) in the Murray Lake area, northern Ontario. The centre of the study area is located approximately 57 km northeast of the city of Wawa and 38 km north of Highway 101. Wabatongushi Lake is found in the northwest part of the study area. Dog Lake and Lochalsh Bay are found in the centre of the study area.
