Survey Description
In late September and early October 1988, lake sediment and water samples were collected in a 400 km 2 area in the vicinity of the Magpie River, 30 km northeast of Wawa, northern Ontario.
Duplicate lake sediment cores and l litre water samples were collected from 403 points situated in lakes and ponds at an aveage density of one sample per 1.22 km 2. Pre-Ambrosia and post-Ambrosia sediments were collected.
A description of the study is found in Ontario Geological Survey Miscellaneous paper MP141 (Summary of Field Work and Other Activities 1988).
Data from this survey are compiled in the Herman Lake regional geochemical map sheet, OGS Map M80804.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers parts of NTS 42C/02 (Hawk Junction), 42C/07 (Medhurst Creek), in the Magpie River area, northern Ontario. The centre of the study area is located approximately 30 km north-northeast of the city of Wawa and 25 km north of Highway 101. The Magpie River crosses the study area.
