Survey Description


In March 1988, 13 long cores of lake sediment were collected in the Goudreau Lake area, northern Ontario.  The samples were taken to verify geochemical results from a regional survey in 1987 in the same area.

A description of the work and data from four of the sediment cores are published in Ontario Geological Survey Miscellaneous paper MP141 (Summary of Field Work and Other Activities 1988).

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers very small parts of NTS 42C/01 (Manitowik Lake) and 42C/08 (Franz) in northern Ontario.  The lake sampled is located at 48°15’N latitude and 84°26.7’W longitude, in the approximate centre of the outlined area, approximately 1.5 km east of Morrison Lake.

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 42C/08 (Franz) in northern Ontario.  The lake sampled is located at 48°21’N latitude and 84°21.7’O longitude, in the approximate centre of the outlined area, approximately 10 km west of Lochalsh Bay.

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 42C/01 (Manitowik Lake) in northern Ontario.  It is bounded to the south east by Whitefish Lake.  The lake sampled is located at 48°9.5’N latitude and 84°25.2’O longitude, in the approximate centre of the outlined area.

  • Covers a very small part of NTS 42C/01 (Manitowik Lake) in northern Ontario.  It is bounded to the west of 84.5°W longitude.  The lake sampled is located at 48°10.7’N latitude and 84°29.3’O longitude, in the approximate centre of the outlined area, approximately 5 km north west of Whitefish Lake.
