Survey Description
In July and August 1988, lake sediment and water samples were collected in a 2475 km2 area over part of the Batchawana Greenstone Belt, northern Ontario.
A total of 947 sediment core samples and 1L water samples were collected in this second year of a three year study. The cores were extruded to obtain a pre-Ambrosia sediment sample for geochemical analysis.
The study is described in Ontario Geological Survey Miscellaneous Paper MP141 (Summary of Field Work and Other Activities 1988).

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers the northeast corner of NTS 41K (Sault Ste. Marie) and the southeast corner of 41N (Michipicoten) in the District of Algoma, northern Ontario. It is bounded to the west by Lake Superior. The centre of the study area is located approximately 58 km north of the city of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Montreal River runs through the northernmost part of the study area.
