Survey Description

In August 1984, a total of 79 lakes, plus 12 locations in the Montreal River reservoir, were sampled, with repeat sampling of 20 stations. Larger lakes in the area were sampled at several locations, bringing the total number of sampling locations to 113.

Lake sediment and water samples were collected.  Vertical profiles of pH, temperature, conductivity and dissolved oxygen were also taken.

Remote sensing surveys were carried out to delineate areas where the lakes are likely to be affected by the effects of acid rain.

The study is described in Ontario Geological Survey Miscellaneous Paper MP119 (Summary of Field Work 1984).
