Survey Description


In September and October 1983, an orientation survey for mineral resource appraisal was carried out in the Batchawana Mountain area, Ontario.  Lake sediment and water samples were collected from the midbasins of 156 lakes and ponds.

The data and a detailed description of the study are published on Ontario Geological Survey Map M80755.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of 41N/01 (Batchewana), 41N/02 (Mamainse Point) and 41O/04 (Welcome Lake), in the area of Batchawana Mountain, Ontario.  The centre of the study area is located approximately 60 km north-northeast from the city of Sault Ste. Marie and 44 km east of Lake Superior.
