Survey Description
In July and August 1981, approximately 4000 stream sediment samples were collected in southwestern Ontario in a 20,000 km2 area extending from Lake Huron to Lake Ontario.
Samples of active stream sediment were collected up stream from road/stream crossings at a density of one sample per 5 km2. Sample sites are selected in streams with catchment areas of from 1 to 25 km2, averaging 5 km2, to ensure continuity and spatial relevence.
A description of the project is found in Ontario Geological Survey Miscellaneous Paper MP110 (Summary of Field Work 1981). Maps M80612 and M80715 use these data to explain a phased approach to geochemical mapping and map interpretation.
