Survey Description


A reconnaissance geochemical survey was carried out in southwestern New Brunswick during the summer of 1970.  Approximately 1,269 sediment samples were collected from active stream channel, rivulets and springs.  A uniform spacing between samples could not be maintained because of the irregular distribution of streams.

In addition to regional sampling, detailed stream sediment and soil sampling was carried out near the Lake George antimony deposits to gather information to help search for the metal elsewhere.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 21G/10 (Fredericton Junction), /11 (McAdam), /13 (Fosterville), /14 (Canterbury), and /15 (Fredericton) in southwestern New Brunswick.  It is bounded to the north by the Saint John River.  The city of McAdam is located in the southwest part of the study area.
