Survey Description


Till samples were collected in 1988 from 135 sites in Albert County in southeastern New Brunswick.  Samples were collected in 21H/10 (Alma, 43 sites), 21H/15 (Hillsborough, 69 sites), 21H/11 (Waterford, 21 sites) and 21H/14 (Petitcodiac, 2 sites).  The data were released as part of a Master’s thesis by M. Foisy at the University of Quebec at Montreal and published in New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources and Energy Open File Report 89-51 and Map Plates 90-34A, 90-34B.

Quantities Analysed:

Au, Ag, As, Hg and Sb by Chemex Labs Ltd.; Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Ag, V, Sb by the New Brunswick Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy labs (no size fraction or methods given).

Plates 90-34A, B: <0.063 mm fraction analyzed for Au by FA-NAA; Ag and As by AAS after HNO 3 aqua regia digestion; Hg by flameless AAS after HNO 3-HCl digestion; Sb by AAS after HCl-KClO 3 digestion and extraction into organic gel.  Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Fe, Co and Ni by AAS.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 21H/10 (Alma), 21H/11 (Waterford), 21H/14 (Petitcodiac) and 21H/15 (Hillsborough) in southeastern New Brunswick.  It is located in Albert county, south of Moncton, between the Petitcodiac River to the east, Fundy National Park to the west and Chignecto Bay to the south.
