Survey Description


Helicopter-supported sample collection was carried out during the summer of 1995 in the Gataga Mountain area, north-central British Columbia.  A total of 184 stream sediment and 182 stream water samples were collected from 174 sites.  The average sample site density was 1 site per 7 km2 over the 875 km2 survey area.

The data are published in British Columbia Geological Survey Open File 1996-18.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of NTS 94L/7 (Paddy Creek), /8 (Through Creek), /9 (unnamed), /10 (Gataga Mountain), /11 (Denetiah Creek), /14 (Moodie Creek) and /15 (unnamed) in the Gataga Mountain area, north-central British Columbia.  The junction of the Gataga and Kechika rivers is found in the study area. The northern part of the study area is located approximately 50 km west of Muncho Lake.
