Survey Description


In 2010, bulk till samples were collected on Bay de Verde Peninsula in an area from Carbonear to Heart’s content, southeastern Newfoundland.  One 22 L pail was collected at 28 sites for heavy minerals.

The samples were collected where two REE anomalies in till were identified during previous work in the area.  Background samples were also collected.

The data are published in Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Natural Resources Open File NFLD/3171.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers parts of 1N/11 (Harbour Grace) and 1N/14 (Heart’s Content) on the Bay de Verde Peninsula, southeastern Newfoundland.  It extends from Harbour Grace in the southeast to Heart’s Content in the northwest.
