Survey Description
Centre lake bottom sediments were collected in the summer of 1977 from 3806 sites over an area of 17,400 km 2 in the Meelpaeg Lake area, central Newfoundland. The data are published in Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Mines and Energy Open Files NFLD/0986 and NFLD/1222(an update OF that also contains F data). Tungsten data were released in NFLD/1302. Gold data for samples in NTS 12A/1 and /2 were released along with other data from 12A in Open File NFLD/1801.
Data from parts of NTS 1M were released in Open File 1M/276 with data collected in other years from 1M and this Open File is superseded by Open File 1M/312 which contains reanalyses by INAA for all of NTS 1M.
Reanalysis by INAA of samples from NTS 2D, 11P and 12A were published with other samples from those areas in:

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

Covers NTS 12A/1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 2D/4, 5, 12, 13, 11P/15 and parts of NTS 11P/9, 10, 16 and 1M/5, 6, 11, 12, 13 in the Meelpaeg Lake area, central Newfoundland. It is bounded to the south by the Atlantic Ocean. Meelpaeg Reservoir is located in the central-west part of the study area and the town of Grand Falls-Windsor is located in the northeast part of the study area.
