Survey Description


Nearly 400 samples (mostly till) were collected in 1994 in the Robert’s Arm, Little Bay Island and Springdale map areas in northern Newfoundland.  The data are published in Newfoundland Department of Natural Resources Open File NFLD/2513.  These samples are also included in element distribution maps published in Open File NFLD/2596.

Paper report and lists; digital report, database, and maps on diskette NFLD/2513/1.

Quantities Analysed:

<0.063 mm fraction after HF-HClO4-HCl by ICP-AES for 29 elements and by AAS for 4 elements; by INAA for 39 elements; by AAS after hot HNO3 digestion for Ag.

Geochem Maps Available:

Includes Maps 95-07 to 95-14 showing dispersal of selected elements.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 2E/5 (Robert’s Arm), 2E/12 (Little Bay Island) and 12H/8 (Springdale) in northern Newfoundland.  It is bounded to the northeast by Notre Dame Bay.
