Survey Description


In 1992, till and humus samples were collected at 185 sites in the Elbow Lake area, west-central Manitoba.

The data are published in Manitoba Geological Survey Data Repository Item DRI2020016 and are also part of two MGS compilation open files, OF2020-2 and OF2020-6.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers most of  NTS 63K/15 (Elbow Lake) and parts of 63K/16 (File Lake) and 63N/02 (Batty Lake), west-central Manitoba.  It is located approximately 58 km east of Flin Flon and just west of File Lake and Morton Lake.  It is bounded to the south by 54.75°N latitude.  Highway 39 runs east-west approximately 18 km south of the study area.
