Survey Description

A detailed soil, and lake water and sediment geochemical survey was carried out within the zone of continuous permafrost near Bathurst Norsemines, Nunavut.  The sampling year was not given.

Soil samples were collected on a 30m x 120m grid from the organic-rich soil layer and at depths of 0-35 cm and 35-64 cm.  Near-centre lake sediments were collected from > 25 cm using a phleger corer.  Lake waters were collected at the surface, midway to the bottom and near the bottom at several sites within each lake.

A description of the work is found in Prospecting in Areas of Glaciated Terrain 1979, p. 101-109.
