Survey Description

A reconnaissance stream sediment survey was carried out in the Swan Lake – Dauphin area of western Manitoba.  Bedrock was sampled wherever possible, and follow-up soil and plant sampling was carried out in areas of particular interest.  No sampling year was stated.  Active sediment was collected over an area of approximately 4,400 km 2 at an average density of approximately 1 sample per 25 km 2.  Soil horizons were sampled to a maximum depth of approximately 1 m.  Plant material was collected within a 30 x 30 m 2 area around each soil pit.  A discussion of the work can be found in Molybdenum in the Environment (vol. 2).

Data Description:

Paper report.

Quantities Analysed:

<-0.177 mm fraction of stream sediments and <2.00 mm fraction of soil (ground to <0.149 mm) both treated with 4:1 mixture of nitric-perchloric acid and later dissolved in HCl.  Mo determined using a modified dithiol procedure.

Geochem Maps Available:

Proportional symbol diagrams; tables show range of values.

Other Analyses:

Geochemical analyses of plant materials and underlying bedrock.  Unground -10 mesh soil material used for soil pH measurement.
