Survey Description
A reconnaissance stream sediment survey was carried out in the Swan Lake – Dauphin area of western Manitoba. Bedrock was sampled wherever possible, and follow-up soil and plant sampling was carried out in areas of particular interest. No sampling year was stated. Active sediment was collected over an area of approximately 4,400 km2 at an average density of approximately 1 sample per 25 km2. Soil horizons were sampled to a maximum depth of approximately 1 m. Plant material was collected within a 30 x 30 m2 area around each soil pit. A discussion of the work can be found in Molybdenum in the Environment (vol. 2).
Data Description:
Paper report.
Quantities Analysed:
<-0.177 mm fraction of stream sediments and <2.00 mm fraction of soil (ground to <0.149 mm) both treated with 4:1 mixture of nitric-perchloric acid and later dissolved in HCl. Mo determined using a modified dithiol procedure.
Geochem Maps Available:
Proportional symbol diagrams; tables show range of values.
Other Analyses:
Geochemical analyses of plant materials and underlying bedrock. Unground -10 mesh soil material used for soil pH measurement.
