Casino Deposit Surficial Geochemistry Project, Yukon, 2017-2022.
Project Description
In 2017, as part of the Targeted Geoscience Initiative (TGI-5), a detailed stream sediment and water sampling survey was carried out at the remote Casino porphyry Cu-Mo-Au deposit in west-central Yukon.
Sampling was conducted to establish a geochemical baseline around an undisturbed, unglaciated porphyry deposit and to demonstrate the applicability of multi-media surficial geochemical methods for exploration in terrains with little to no bedrock outcrop.
The following reports have been published:
Publication | Data |
GSC OF 8632 | geochemistry (analyses completed in 2018) |
GSC OF 8711 | indicator mineral abundance |
Geochemistry: Exploration, Environment, Analysis, vol. 22 | interpretation |
GSC OF 8800 | 2021 analyses + data from OF 8632 |
GSC OF 8823 | geochemistry |
Economic Geology, vol. 118 | indicator mineral signatures |
In 2022 under TGI-6, new sampling was carried out to follow-up on the previous work and to further develop research concepts conceived since 2017.
A description of the study can be found in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 8971. The data will be published at a later date.
