Northern Manitoba reanalysis project, 2007

Project Description

Approximately 420 till samples were collected over an area of approximately 125,000 km2 in northern Manitoba during mapping projects in the 1970s and 1980s.  The silt + clay fraction of 158 of the archived samples was reanalysed by ICP-ES and INAA in order to obtain a more complete inventory of the geochemical nature of surface tills.  Most of the samples come from NTS 54E, F, L and some from 64J, N, O.  More than half of the original samples could not be retrieved from the Geological Survey of Canada archive, so there is a major gap in the regional coverage of the reanalysed samples.

The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 5546.
