Labrador-Quebec till sampling surveys, 1982-1987
Project Description
Till samples were collected in southern Labrador and eastern Quebec in 1982-1987 to establish drift composition and patterns of glacial dispersal and to develop techniques of drift prospecting. Sampling density was variable. In areas considered to have potential for economic mineralization, sampling density was increased and the results for the <0.002 mm fraction of till from these higher density areas are published in GSC Open Files 1282 (NTS 13N), 1318 (13J), 1319 (13K), 1320 (13L) and 1901 (23I, J, O, P). The <0.063 mm fraction of most of these samples was reanalyzed for 8 elements by XRF; for Be by AAS; for Au, Pt, Pd by FA-ICP-AFS methods; and for Au by FA-AAS and INAA. These new results as well as data for the entire regional survey are published in GSC Open File 2170.
GSC Bulletin 435 summarizes the data from all the above listed open files.
