Project Description

Geochemical data from mineral exploration surveys is used to assess postglacial and pre-last glacial weathering on the high plateaus of central Gaspésie by comparing the distribution of 30 elements in the B and C horizons of a thin soil developed on glacial deposits.  B and C horizon samples were originally collected around the Sullipek Mine and the results are published in Ministère de l’Énergie et de Ressources MB 88-27.

More samples were later collected in a larger area in the same vicinity and the Sullipek samples were combined with this data set in P. Bédard’s Université de Montréal Ph.D. thesis.
