Nova Scotia regional stream sediment surveys project, 1982-1983, and 1986-1987
Project Description
A regional stream sediment survey was carried out in Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island in 1982-1983. This survey was planned to complete the stream sediment coverage of Nova Scotia not sampled during the 1970s. It differed from the 1970s surveys in that the sample spacing was increased and samples were preconcentrated in the field by sieving.
In 1986-1987, a regional stream sediment survey was carried out to explore for precious metals, with the aim of defining new mineral potential outside of the traditional gold producing areas of the Meguma Zone. The samples from this survey were processed for heavy minerals.
