Survey Description


Between 1998 and 2000, 165 samples (mostly till but a few glacial outwash and glaciolacustrine sediments) were collected in the Trutch Lake area, northeastern British Columbia.  Forty-five samples were processed for heavy minerals.  No kimberlite indicator minerals were found.  The data are published in GSC Open File 3815.

<0.063 mm fraction by INAA for 34 elements.

Other Analyses:

Grain size (<2 mm); carbonate (<0.063 mm (Chittick and LECO)); heavy mineral concentrate for point counts.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 94G, the Trutch map area, northeastern British Columbia.  The Alaska Highway runs north-south through the centre of the study area which is located approximately 175 km west of the British Columbia-Alberta border.
