Survey Description

In 1992 to 1993, a heavy mineral sampling program was carried out in the Lac de Gras area, Nunavut and Northwest Territories, approximately 340 northeast of Yellowknife.  A total of 1700 samples, consisting mainly of till but including some streams, eskers and beaches, were collected.  These samples were collected down-ice from geophysically identified anomalies.

Some samples were pre-processed and a heavy mineral concentrate was prepared at camp and the remaining were sent as is to Lakefield labs for heavy mineral processing.

The samples have been SEM checked and data are available.

The data can be found in Nunavut Assessment Report 083262.
