Survey Description


A lithogeochemical compilation was carried out for rocks from the Cape Smith Belt, Ungava Peninsula, Quebec.  Data was compiled from university and government sources and covers several years of sample collection, but the start and end dates are unknown.  The geochemical compilation includes 2299 samples of volcanic and related intrusive rocks as well as an unknown number of granitoid rocks.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 5117.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 35F, G, H and parts of 35A, B, C, I, J, K, 025D, E, the Ungava Peninsula, northern Quebec.

  • Covers small parts of NTS 35J/9+10 (2 samples; Charles Island) on Charles Island, north of Ungava Peninsula, northern Quebec.  It is bounded to the south by Hudson Strait.
