Survey Description
In the summer of 2010, geologists from the GSC, AREVA and Queen’s University collected till and rock samples around the Kiggavik uranium deposit, Nunavut. Till samples were collected up-ice, overlying and down-ice of the deposit by foot and helicopter traverses from hand-dug pits in active and inactive frost boils.
Till samples were collected around the Kiggavik Main Zone and drill core was sampled from holes previously drilled in both the KMZ and the Center Zone.
The following samples were collected:
Sample Type | Number of Samples | Comments | GSC Open File |
till | 71 |
pits were 15-45 cm deep samples weighed 5-15 kg |
OF 7550 (geochemistry and Pb isotopes) OF 7771 (heavy minerals) |
rock | 42 | from outcrops, diamond drill core | OF 7771 (heavy minerals) |
