Survey Description
In 2012, approximately 105 till and 76 esker samples were collected in the Mary Frances Lake-Whitefish Lake-Thelon River area, Northwest Territories. A till sample was taken approximately every 100 square km and an esker sample was taken approximately every 10 km. At each till site a 15 kg sample was taken for heavy mineral recovery, a companion 1 kg sample for geochemical analysis, 50 pebbles for pebble counts, and a 100 g sample for pXRF analysis.
The data are published in the following Geological Survey of Canada Open Files:

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:
-
Covers parts of NTS 75I (Beaverhill Lake), J (Lynx Lake), O (Artillery Lake), and P (Hanbury River) in the Mary Frances Lake-Whitefish Lake-Thelon River area, Northwest Territories. It is located approximately 15 km southwest of the Thelon Game Sanctuary and 130 km west of the western shore of Dubwani Lake. Mary Frances Lake and Whitefish Lake lie in the northwest and southwest parts of the study area respectively.
