Survey Description

In 1970, field studies were conducted in the vicinity of Kaminak Lake in the Ennadai-Rankin Belt of volcanic and sedimentary rocks.  The objective of the study was to determine the effectiveness of regional geochemical methods, particularly hydrogeochemistry, in delineating large (>100 mi 2) anomalous areas within the 2,300 mi 2 study area.

Approximately 1000 water samples and 400 sediment or soil samples were collected.  A summary of the work can be found in Geological Survey of Canada Paper 71-43.

A map of Hg data in the water samples is published in Water, Air, and Soil Pollution, Special Volume 80.  Data for the sediment samples have never been published.
