Survey Description

Helicopter-supported sample collection was carried out during the summer of 1996 on northern Bathurst Island, Massey Island and Alexander Island.  Stream sediment and water samples were collected at 254 regional sites and at 169 infill (detailed) sites.  Infill survey sites were selected based on results of a regional survey carried out the previous year (GSC Open File 3292).  Samples were arranged in groups (blocks) of twenty.  Each group of twenty contained one or more duplicate site samples, that is, two samples from a single site; the group also contained an analytical duplicate sample pair.  The data are published in GSC Open File 3566.  The data were re-released with data from 1995 and 1997 in the MERA report, GSC Open File 3714 (Part D).

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.
