Survey Description


During the summer of 1988, helicopter and truck-supported lake sediment and water sampling was carried out in central Ontario.  Samples were collected at an average density of one sample per 13 km2 throughout the 20,500 km2 survey area.  Sample site duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of twenty samples.  The data are published in Geological Survey of Canada Open File 1956.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers the north half of NTS 31E, the very southwest corner of 31K and the Ontario half of 31L bounded by the NW/SE trending Ottawa River (Ontario/Quebec border).
