Survey Description

During the summer of 1978, stream sediment and water samples were collected in a Helicopter-supported survey in northern Yukon territory and Northwest Territories.  The samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 13 km2.  Sample site duplicate samples were routinely collected in each analytical block of twenty samples.  The data were published in Geological Survey of Canada Open file 565 in 1979.

This survey was carried out using National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) protocols.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS sheets 117A and 117D and the eastern quarters of 117B and 117C in northern Yukon.  It is bounded to the west by the Alaska border.  It is bounded to the north by the Beaufort Sea.  There is an area in the southwest corner, through which the Old Crow River flows, where no samples were collected.  The Yukon/NWT border cuts through the eastern part of the study area.
