Survey Description


In 1969, a soil and rock sampling survey was conducted in the Mines Madeleine area, Quebec.  The area covers 1 km 2.  A total of 54 soil samples and 54 rock samples were collected.  In 1971, a total of 188 soil samples were also collected in the surrounding area of the mine.  Samples were analyzed for Cu, Pb, Zn, Ni, Co, Ag, Mo, Sn, As, B, W, P, F, Sr, Bi, Sb and Au.  Only samples from 1971 were analyzed for U.

The data are published in Open File DPV-714, Department of Energy and Resources, 1979.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 22G/1 (Sainte-Anne-des-Monts).  The Madeleine mines area is situated in the Gaspé region.  It is bounded by latitudes 49°02' and 49°03' and longitudes 66°08' and 66°10'.
