Survey Description


During the summer of 1977, a soil and vegetation sampling survey was conducted in the Palmarolle area, Quebec.  The area covers 250 km2.  A total of 375 samples were collected.  At each of the 125 sites, samples of leaves and bark were collected from trembling aspen trees.  A soil sample from horizons H, Ah or Oh was also collected.

All samples were analyzed for:

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 32D/11 (Palmarolle).  The Palmarolle area is located in the Abitibi region.  It is situated 35 km north of the cities of Rouyn and Noranda.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°35' and 48°45' and longitudes 79° and 79°15'.
