Survey Description


In 1982, a base till and clay sampling survey was conducted by the firm Exploration Aiguebelle Inc., in the Palmarolle area, Quebec.  The area covers 12 km2.  A total of 99 samples were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.1 km2.  On each of the 33 drilling sites, one base till sample was collected (screened to separate the fine fraction (<80 mesh) and the heavy mineral fraction (>35 mesh)) and one glaciolacustrine clay sample.

The heavy mineral fraction was analyzed using a binocular microscope for visual identification and 1 gram of this material was crushed and analyzed.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 32D/11 (Palmarolle).  The Palmarolle area is located in the Abitibi region.  It is situated 50 km north of Rouyn-Noranda.  It includes lots 19 to 32, rg. 10, Duparquet county and rg. I, Palmarolle county.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°32' and 48°37' and longitudes 79°09' and 79°18'.
