Survey Description


Following the sampling survey conducted in Port-Daniel, a soil sampling survey was conducted in Cascapédia and Nouvelle areas, Quebec.  During the summer of 1982, the Cascapédia sampling was done on 50 km along the Grand Pabos Fault.  A total of 6656 samples from the horizon B, were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.02 km2.

During the summer of 1983, the Nouvelle sampling was done on 25km along the Grand Pabos Fault.  A total of 3830 samples from the horizon B, were collected at an average density of 1 sample per 0.02 km2.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers part of NTS 22A/4 (New Richmond), /5 (Lac McKay) and 22B/1 (Escuminac), /8 (Rivière Angers).  The Cascapédia area is located north of the cities of Bonaventure and New Richmond.  It is situated in the Reboul, Robidoux, Flahault, New-Richmond and Maria townships.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°12' and 48°20' and longitudes 65°56' and 66°30'.

  • Covers part of NTS 22A/5 (Lac McKay).  The Nouvelle area is located northwest of the village of Allard.  It is situated in parts of Angers, Dugal and Nouvelle townships.  It is bounded by latitudes 48°17'30" and 48°22'30" and longitudes 65°30' and 65°59'.
