Survey Description


In 1983, a heavy mineral sampling survey was conducted in the River Assemetquagan area, Quebec.  The length of the river covered by this survey is 20 km.  A total of 12 samples were paned, screened and treated with bromoform (density 2.85 g/cm2) and analyzed for gold.

There was no sampling for gold showing on the Kempt North river from the DER.  Data were given by the claim owner (R. Assad, personal communication).

The data are published in Open File DP 84-35, Department of Energy and Resources, 1985.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 22B/2 (Oak Bay), /3 (Milnikek).  The Rivière Assemetquagan and Rivière Kempt Nord area is located in the Gaspé peninsula. Rivière Assemetquagan is a tributary of Rivière Matapédia.  The area is bounded by latitudes 48° and 48°15' and longitudes 66°30' and 67°13'.
