Survey Description


During the summers of 1981 and 1982, a soil sampling survey was conducted by foot (1982) and by helicopter (1981).  The area covers 220 km2.  A total of 220 samples, from horizon Ah, Oh or H, were collected at an average density of 1 sample per km2.  These samples were analysed for:

Loss on ignition (LOI)    
As   hydride generation atomic absorption

 

The data are published in Open File DP 83-22, Department of Energy and Resources, 1983.  Subsequently, samples were analysed for gold and data are published in Open File MB 85-26, Department of Energy and Resources, 1985.

The geographic extent of the survey is defined by the following polygons:

  • Covers NTS 31I/16 (Notre-Dame-de-Montauban).  The Montauban area is situated in the Portneuf county.  Its center is located in the village of Montauban-les-Mines.  It is bounded by latitudes 46°45' and 46°55' and longitudes 72°14' and 72°26'.
